2008 SEASON REPORT

Dateline: 26 Dec 2007 - 2008 is almost upon us. Just typing "2008" makes us start to think about the 2008 Season at Trout Park. It is going to be a great year and we are starting to put together our regular season games, Tournaments and Special Events. We hope to have a few major announcements regarding National Level Tournaments in addtion to our CABA Summer College World Series Event.

Our 2008 Tournament Dates have been posted. We fill our tournaments every year so do not procrastinate. Trout Park works hard to make your tournament experience enjoyable. Quality competition, beautiful fields and great hotel accomodations. Check out our Tournament Page on our website.

The success of our facility could not be accomplished without the volunteers and staff of Trout Park Baseball. We look forward to welcoming back several staff members who have worked at Trout Park last year and other past seasons. We also anticipate our new staff additions for 2008. Following are several of our key staff members and volunteers.

Bill Lauderdale---My partner in the overall operation of the park. Bill works quietly in the background handling many of the major capital projects for the park. Bill handles all electrical and major renovation projects. Bill also coaches one of our college summer wood bat team and owns the Fox Valley Sports Academy. When Bill is not at the Park you can find him operating his electric company, Lauderdale Electric.

Coleen Nelson---Coleen Nelson is the general manager of our concession facility. Coleen makes sure that the concessions served at Trout Park continue meet our high standards and are the "best in the City."

Jon Novak, Brian Stanley and Ben Vincent---Jon, Brian and Ben set up the field daily for our games. Jon is a former high school standout player at Hampshire and also works as an assistant manager at the Fox Valley Sports Academy. Brian is a junior at Long Island University and one of their starting pitchers. Brian is a former standout at Larkin High School and Elgin Community Collete. Ben is a freshman catcher at Elgin Community College and a former All Area Catcher at Larkin HS. Jon, Brian and Ben have been working/playing on Trout Park since they were 13 years old and when they is not taking BP they can groom a batters box and pitcher's mound as if their last names were Bossard.

Bill Rieke---Bill is our resident grass, weed and irrigation expert. Bill works with us to make sure we have the greenest grass in Elgin throughout the spring, summer and fall. Bill coordinates all our fertilization, overseeding, aeration and weed control programs. I can't remember the last time I saw a dandelion or weed within our fences. When Bill is not making the Park an "Oasis for the baseball fan" you can find him working at golf courses, buiding baseball fields and trying to keep his son 13 year old son Justin from setting land speed records in various pieces of lawn equipment and golf carts.

The Koncession Krew---Our concession stand is (wo)manned by a contingent of high school and college coeds. These young ladies work hard to make sure that no one goes hungry or thristy at Trout Park. Brittany Whitehead, Emily Strohmaier, Jacquilin Goodlove, Beth Wemken and Tessa Longo make up the staff at our concession stand. They are hard working, lively and bring an "energy" to the facility. Brittany, Jacquilin, Beth and Tessa are seniors at Larkin HS and Emily is a senior at Elgin HS. The girls ask that I mention that all tips are appreciated and will be applied to their academic pursuits. Yeah, right!
